Up for sale is a very rare 18 ft 1960 Airstream Globester. The smaller Airstreams are nearly all gone. Weighing in at approximately 2200 lbs, you can pull her with almost anything. I am the third owner of this wonderful piece of Americana. She is in amazing condition for a 1960 airstream. Very little has been changed from the factory original. She has most of her original equipment (sink, princess 3 burner stove, all metal clean water holding tank, brass septic system, lighting, countertops, etc) and all of the original birch wood cabinetry. She also has what I consider the best design for an 18 foot Airstream (i.e. a dedicated bed at one end and a goucho/couch at the other end…both of which can be pulled out to a full sized bed). She has been refurbished by both the previous owner and myself. The trailers integrity and originality make her the perfect candidate for an all out restoration if you should be so inclined, but she is also wonderful just the way she is.
The second owner refurbished her with:
1. New Coleman rooftop 13500 AC/HEATER
2. New custom made mint green BIG CHILL Industrial Fridge
3. New 50s Diner flooring (mint green and pink checkered VCT tiles)
4. New Bed and Goucho/Sofa cushions and Upholstery
5. New Barkcloth window curtains
6. New wheel bearings and 3 New Goodyear Marathon Tires (one for the spare tire)
7. New window seals and new door seal
8. Frame repainted original silver
9. Interior repainted with mint green precatalyzed epoxy paint from Sherwin Williams
After a full inspection I did following necessary repairs and upgrades:
1. replaced the 56 year old axle with a new 3700 lb tortion axle
2. added 10” electric brakes with break away switch and converted the 4 pin electrical harness to a 7 pin electrical harness
3. upgraded the electricity from 15 amp to 30 amp putting the Coleman AC/HEATER on its own dedicated 15 amp circuit (added modern breaker box and Furrion 30 amp connector and cord set)
4. replaced the copper water pipes with new PEX plumbing lines
5. replaced the non working toilet with a new ceramic RV toilet
6. upgraded the propane tanks to 30 lb aluminum tanks
7. inspected all gas lines and add additional lines for a new 6000 BTU CAT heater and second access point with quick connect
