We've all seen beautifully restored classic automobiles. The body comes off, the engine comes out, the interior is redone and every part of the vehicle is evaluated, refurbished or replaced before reassembly. These efforts come with descriptions like "no expense spared" and "better than new". The end results can be visually stunning and financially staggering!
Then there's that "other" genre of classic automobiles. They have the mystique and magic of objects that time has somehow forgotten. You won't hear about the extensive restoration, it hasn't occurred. Like an enigma that has somehow turned back the hands of time, lovingly cared for or, in some cases, sparingly reserved for special occasions.
"Survivors" appear to be experiencing a new found appreciation among auto enthusiasts. Survivors may not be perfect, yet that is, in many cases, what makes them perfect. They have transcended the boundary of time and escaped an onslaught of use and abuse. Where the others have failed, they have somehow prevailed. Their owners may have taken them out of the game early or perhaps just had the wisdom to maintain, appreciate and protect what the manufacturer designed and built so many years ago. When it comes to Datsun 510's , this is truly a Unicorn.
- 2 owner car.
- The original owner put the majority of the miles on by 1980. From 1980 - 2010 the car was only driven 7,000 miles.
- The second owner was a collector who only logged 300 miles from 2010 to present.
The car has just gone through a full service. It runs and drives like a new 510. Starts on the turn of the key , Very tight , no rattles or strange noises , very zippy, tracks and brakes straight with no wandering, everything you would expect from a low mile car.
- Full tune up
- new complete exhaust
- new carb ( not original)
Light pea soup green is the best way to describe the color of this car ( paint code 546). The paint and body are in amazing shape. Always stored indoors. This is a very straight rust free car. It's all original paint with the exception of a small area by the drivers door handle where it was keyed years ago. Refer to the last picture , I have outlined the area in white that was repainted. There is a small dent above the Datsun emblem on the drivers side fender from a fawn running into it in 2010. This can be completely removed by paintless dent removal, I can have this done for the new owner before delivery at their request. There is a paint touch up that will have to be done as well above the dent. All Chrome, britework, and moldings are in exceptional shape
The Interior on this car is pretty much like new. All gage faces are crystal clear, beautiful dash, everything still looks crisp. All glass is scratch and pit free. Passenger seat is separating at the seam from age but apart from that the seats show no real wear, headliner is perfect. The carpet has slight fading on the tunnel. This is an original AC car but is missing the compressor
