1968 AMC Rebel SST Complete restoration in 2015 with about 1000 miles since. Was originally a 343 car, now upgraded to the 390 which is a correct option. Fresh .030 over 390, Roller Rockers, Competition Cam, Holley 4 barrel, Offenhauser intake,Shorty Headers into full 2 1/4 dual exhaust, Allison Electronic Ignition.
Torque Flight Trans with B and M shift kit and B and M dual gate ratchet shifter driving an NOS posi 4.11:1 AMC rear end. Original drum brakes are all new and it stops very well. Interior professionally done as original by top quality national level shop (D and J's Custom Stitch at Rockford Airport). The red is a little darker than the pictures indicate. New headliner, carpet, package shelf and all new weather stripping. The original red steering wheel and all 4 original hubcaps will be included. New heater core and Y valve seals. Body has NOS sheet metal and minimal filler. Car spent some time out west in the 80's and was in very good condition prior to restoration. Has a good known history as a one family car picked up new at the Kenosha plant in 68. Car was handed down from father to son who took it to CA. when he joined the Airforce in the 80's. It still has the Dept. of Defense gate pass sticker from Mathers AF base on the front bumper. It was put into dry, cement floor storage in the early 90's and sat for 20+ years until I bought it in fall 2014. Restoration was completed in spring 2016. Runs, sounds and drives great. Smooth and hands off down the road.
Its a low production car with about 9800 made.
