I say EXTREMELY RARE because only 3,447 Code "71B" 6 Passenger Commuter Wagons were produced in 1967 and even rarer still with the optional - MONSTER BIG BLOCK 410 MARAUDER V8 MOTOR !! The Commuter Wagon was a stunning body style in 1967 and still is some 56 years later. I purchased this Commuter Wagon from the previous older California owner who has lovingly owned it since 1990 when he bought it from the ORIGINAL OWNER !! This Commuter Wagon still retains it's correctly mounted - FACTORY ORIGINAL - driver's door mounted Mercury data plate - FACTORY ORIGINAL - cowl mounted Mercury data plate - FACTORY ORIGINAL - Protect-O-Plate warranty - 1967 Mercury owner's manual - ORIGINAL - Mercury records and maintenance envelope - ORIGINAL - dealer purchase order and the - ORIGINAL - dealer window sticker, all of which are shown in several pictures below. This BEAUTY has been a NICE - DRY - SOLID since brand new and boy does it show !!
At the heart of this Commuter Wagon is what appears to be the VERY STRONG !! - VERY RARE !! - OPTIONAL - ORIGINAL - Code "M" - MONSTER BIG BLOCK 410 CID "Marauder" V8 motor ( 330 Horsepower and 444 Ft-Lbs of Torque from the factory !!) in it that is running very well indeed. This Grocery Getter is big but trust me it is a ROCKET !!The motor also still retains the ORIGINAL 4 barrel intake manifold, ORIGINAL exhaust manifolds, ORIGINAL "Power by Ford" scripted valve covers, ORIGINAL "Marauder 410" scripted air cleaner housing and the ORIGINAL 4 barrel carburetor, Etc... . Sounds GREAT too with the factory style exhaust system. The engine is backed by a SMOOTH - Code "U" - three speed - "Merc'O'Matic" - automatic transmission which also functions very well. All of the black rubber weatherstripping is soft, supple and is in NICE condition. This Commuter Wagon is nicely equipped including factory front and rear seat belts, factory wing windows,factory power wipers, good heater and defroster, working original AM transistor radio, original chrome driver's side view exterior mirror, factory gauge cluster with 120 MPH speedometer, original day / night rear view mirror, factory power sliding rear window, fuel gauge which is no longer working, factory folding rear seat, factory back up lights. The - GORGEOUS - Code "O" - Sea Foam Green exterior finish is EYE POPPING BEAUTIFUL with little to no wear showing except for a couple of very small chips and is still bright, shiny and looks STUNNING. This Commuter Wagon is a great runner and a real nice looker. It has great looks and AWESOME BIG BLOCK 410 Marauder V8 power as well ! There are not many of these left on the roads for sure !
The suspension and drive line all seem to be in good working order as well as the electrical system. All of the ORIGINAL Chrome and Stainless Steel exterior body trim and moldings are in NICE condition including good ORIGINAL Chrome front and rear bumpers, NICE ORIGINAL badging and a good ORIGINAL Chrome grill and headlight surrounds. Check out the AWESOME Factory Original stainless steel Mercury wheel covers and a set of BRAND NEW whitewall steel belted radial tires. Boy does this combination look OUTSTANDING on this Commuter Wagon and really retains that clean - "Factory Original" - look !! The Clean - Solid rear cargo area sports a NEW full size whitewall steel belted radial spare tire and the original jack and lug wrench. All of the ORIGINAL light lenses and reflectors are clear, bright and BEAUTIFUL !! This vehicle is in nice mechanical condition and it runs and drives very well. It is solid with respect to the overall mechanical condition as well as the overall cosmetic impression. I looked underneath and also included photos below.
