1968 Mercury Cougar Base Original Restored 289-2V

This car is completely and professionally rebuilt. It's a brand new, 1968 Mercury Cougar! This was a 3 1/2 year restoration. Changed the color from Lime Frost to Augusta Green in the process. This a factory A/C car, converted to R-134A. Updated to front disk brakes and power assisted. Used all Ford components. New suspension all the way around. Cut out and welded in new metal for rust abatement. New torque boxes, floor pans, trunk pan, quarter panels and sectioned a few areas on the front fenders. Epoxy primered and sanded to 500 and then painted Augusta Green.
To the details:
Completely rebuilt stock 289 (.030 over), 2 bbl carb and a stock valve train and single exhaust. Hardened valve seats installed. All new bearings, pistons, rings etc. New radiator with clutch fan. This car gets around 16 miles per gallon combined. Pretty respectable.
All new suspension, upper and lower control arms, ball joints and shock absorbers, new leaf springs and shackles. Front springs are the actual stock pieces.
All steering components rebuilt or new. Power steering valve and ram were rebuilt along with all new hoses, tube seats and bushings, as well as all new idler arm bushing and tie rod ends. Drives and steers great.
Factory A/C car with all new components replaced to accommodate R134A upgrade.
C4 transmission rebuilt with stock components. Drives, shifts and downshifts just like new, and exactly like the 68 Cougar I had in the 80's. Flawless.
2.89 open 8" rear rebuilt with new bearings, seals etc.
New brakes all the way around including new calipers up front and all new brake lines and wheel cylinders, shoes/pads. Updated to disk up front using 1970 spindles (larger bearings) and added factory power assist (Midland) and Ford brake support/pedal and a factory rebuilt proportioning valve.
Car was prepared the correct way by removing the all the windows, including front and rear winshield/backglass. New headlined installed at that time. All rust was cut out and replaced with new aftermarket, stock sections or fabricated pieces
Interior in in great shape with some new components. New headliner. New carpeting
Replaced the seat foam and upholstery on the driver seat. Added a hand pump pneumatic bladder lumbar support under the upholstery. I have the foam and upholstery (and lumbar support) for the passenger seat that comes with the car, I just haven't had time to install it because I drive this car every day.
Quarter panels both replaced.

Everything works.
Added aftermarket cruise control, and it works great.
Updated the taillight sequencer to electronic along with the turn signal relay for reliable operation.
Installed the brackets and the factory wiring for an overhead console up under the headliner. I have the console, along with a 3D printed custom switch panel and I have a wiring diagram to wire that console to accommodate 4 switches, 2 for the map lights, one for fog lights (which I will send with the car to the new owner) and one for the cruise control.
Added a factory center console
Updated to a modern Bluetooth radio (looks stock) with hands free cell phone operation. 1200W amplifier and subwoofer in the trunk.
This car runs and drives great. it starts, runs and drives like a dream. The A/C works great, as do all the accessories.
