If you have been searching for a well sorted, rust free, ready to drive BMW 2002 then this could be the one for you!
Exterior
Acquired from a local enthusiast, this car was built to his personal specifications, including the removal of the Aluminum Belt Line and Lower Rubber Molding for a more modern look.
Departing from the original color Sahara, a full re-spray was done in Anthazitgrau Metallic (BMW 055). This is a period correct factory color that looks simply stunning on the 2002!
After paint new seals were fitted including; door seals, windshield seals with new chrome locking strips, rear vertical and quarter window seals, and a trunk seal.
Interior
The front and rears seats have been newly upholstered, and a new 15 Piece Black Loop Pile kit has been installed, along with a new rear parcel tray.
The headliner is original with some visible wear for its age, and the dash has its share of desert sized cracks. The door panels have been cleaned and re-dyed and are original.
The heater and blower motor are not working due to their lack of use in Las Vegas, but all the instrumentation is fully functional in the cluster, including the odometer, and all of the lights work, even the dome light.
Sound comes from a Pioneer Detachable Face Stereo, with new Pioneer 6x9 rear speakers and new door speakers.
The trunk boards have been wrapped in new vinyl, and the spare, jack, and lug wrench are intact.
Mechanical
The engine runs strong and pulls hard thanks to a new 38/38 Weber with Electric Choke and a set of full length 4-into-1 Headers and a Sport Magnaflow muffler.
A very extensive service was completed last month, including a full tune up with new Spark Plugs, Ignition Wires, Coil, Distributor Cap & Rotor, Points & Condenser, along with a new Battery.
New fuel lines, fuel filter, air filter, and valve cover breather have also been fitted, and the new Weber air fuel ratio has been correctly set.
The front crankshaft seal was replaced due to a small oil leak, and the drive belt was also replaced. A valve adjustment was done along with a compression test and all cylinders reported between 140-145PSI across.
Wheel Bearings were fitted front and rear, and then the Transmission and Differential were serviced with Redline Fluids, and the Brake System Flushed.
The Coolant System was also Flushed, and it continues to run cool.
The 4 Speed Manual Transmission shifts smoothly and has no grinding synchros, but it does have a noisy third gear at high RPM, a great excuse for a 5 Speed upgrade.
The stock steel wheels are wrapped in new 185/70/13 tires.
This 1976 BMW 2002 has always proved to be very dependable, attending multiple car shows, and participating in plenty of desert drives.
Clean and Clear Title.
