Recently removed from long term storage, it is completely original. The engine starts immediately, you can drive her as-is , but do not recommend do in it.
The paint is decent and consistent with 43 year old paint. Door fits are good. The interior is in excellent condition and will require a thorough cleaning. The headliner would benefit from refitting as it is sagging.
The tires are original and obviously should be replaced. They do hold air and the car rolls easily. There is no rust.
I have the original bill of sale from 1974 Owners manual, warranty booklet and Europa Handbook Supplement are included. Tool roll, jack and jack-bag are in good condition.
This is a very original straight car and is worthy of recommissioning.
I have been asked many questions:
The bag in the trunk is the factory Jack Bag.
The rear trunk/boot struts are factory. The late production cars had them
This does have the big valve engine.
This car has sat for many years in an enclosed garage, not a museum. The paint and interior will require cleaning. The brakes and fuel system will require attention.
It is a great opportunity to own and recommission an original example of the Europa. These cars are far from complex and are easily serviced.
Several people have asked if there is documentation supporting the mileage. I have a statement from the 2nd owner stating when he bought it along with why it wasn't driven. There is also insurance documentation supporting it.
Regarding the appearance, I have only done a rough cleaning, I have not buffed the paint, polished the wheels or cleaned the engine bay. Some of the tires still have witness marks of where they sat flat. For the most part, it is as it has been for the last 16ish years
This would be well suited for the Lotus Aficionado. Someone that would recommission it and would appreciate it for what it is and not try to "restore it".
