A very unique 1954 Hudson Hornet model 7D 4 Door Sedan which spent most of its life since 1965 in a small garage due to a defective reverse band in transmission. Transmission is brand new and drives very smooth.
A true time capsule with history.
NO RUST ON BODY OR FRAME! CLEAN TITLE!
Body: Looks to have been originally red on the exterior but had one repaint of anniversary gold sometime in the late 1950's. The repaint did not include the door jams or underneath trunk /hood. The paints current condition is worn with a brilliant shine, seems the paint was thin and worn over the years from weather and washing. Overall, body panels show great patina.
Interior: The interior dash shows very nice, steering wheel has one small crack, chrome trim inside and gauge cluster looks new. Most dash lights function and odometer shows 77,600 miles. Door trim panels show wear and fade but function. Glass is very nice except for hairline cracks in passenger wing window and rear passenger door. All window/door handles intact and function.
Seats are solid with vintage plaid - cloth panels and vinyl trimmed connected with hog rings.
Headliner is original and looks original but does not sag or show signs of any insects or rodents.
Trim/Undercarriage:
The frame, body panels are extremely solid, all stainless trim is in remarkable shape considering the age, very few dings or minor flaws. The drivers door trim is the worst piece, which can easily be fixed. The front grill and bumpers are nice stainless but will need replating to make perfect. All lights are intact and function - wiring harness was remanufactured with modern wire to power headlights, blinkers and brake lights please note some lense repair was done on rear taillights. This Hornet wears a lot of stainless and chrome trim, gas lid guard, fender skirts, window vents, swan neck mirror, corner bumper edge trim, bumper guards are included in sale located in trunk. Spare tire, aftermarket bumper jack and tire iron also in trunk.
Driveline: Hornet 308 power was very well kept and turned over loose when checked before purchasing. Due to age and length of storage (55 years) new large 6 volt battery and cables, defunct original radiator was replaced with aftermarket aluminum configuration, waterpump, NOS thermostat, factory 110 volt engine heater was kept intact, new hoses, new anti-freeze and oil. Fuel tank was removed and dipped then installed with new fuel line, sending unit, in-line filter up to dual action fuel pump. A factory two barrel carb was fully rebuilt and calibrated. A complete tune up including new wiring into distributor and ignition. Every brake part was removed then replaced: wheel cylinders, metal lines, drums, shoes arked, wheel cylinders mated to a rebuilt Treadlevac by Kantor, fluids replaced and bled to function well. Emergency brake functions and cables are adjusted.
A flexible exhaust pipe exits in front of passenger side wheels, could use a new muffler.
