I am the third owner of this car. I bought it used in 1978. It had 37,000 miles on it at the time. The car is a four speed with electric overdrive. I drove it daily until 1982 when it became my toy, garage car. It hasn't seen rain or foul weather since then. I restored the car over a number of years, eventually stripping it down to bare metal, no glass, no rubber, no chrome, no anything. Then it was painstakingly restored. Rocker panels were replaced, headlamp buckets repaired; frame under the passenger seat replaced and the entire undercarriage inspected with the car on its side; all rubber replaced; all of the exterior paint was done by a concourse paint judge and it was a huge (read terribly expensive) endeavor; all side chrome replaced; both dashes replaced with new, not caps; head liner replaced (not recommended unless you are out of ear shot of any sensitive persons - ditto dash replacement); the carpets were all taken out and professionally cleaned; parts of the front seats were replaced with new leather as they had cracked; the battery area was repaired, painted and is now protected with a rubberized liner; the wheels are IPD, but I have the original wheels; they would need to be stripped and repainted. I have the original trim rings plus 4 IPD replacement rings. The sway bars are IPD as is the stainless exhaust system. The original sway bar is included. The valve cover is IPD, but the original one is included with the original oil fill cap as the one on the car has been chromed. I have the original battery clamp set, but it was rusted and the one on the car is stainless. The interior, vinyl and masonite door skins are new. The wiring harness is new as are the connector boots which were all torn. The harness and boots are from Volvo. The horse hair firewall insulation was replaced, but I did not get around to installing the new tunnel installation which is included. The horns were replaced with Hella horns, but the original ones are included as well. Four original, Volvo oil filters are included as well as a set of brake pads. I have all of the original owner and sales literature including a Volvo Service Manual. All of the hose clamps in the engine compartment have been replaced with new. They are like the original, but in stainless. The worm screw type clamps have a blue mechanism as the originals did. All non-structural fasteners under the hood have been restored or replaced with stainless. This includes all of the wire hold downs which are notoriously missing on this car. The wiper arms are original. An original glove box has been re-flocked and shows no wear. The one that came with the car is also included as are a couple of rear arm rests, miscellaneous window and door parts, a bumper strip, and lots of clamps, screws, and odds and ends. The clock was repaired a couple of years ago, but now seems to not be working. The radio is not connected as I intended to redo the sound system. It works, but there are much nicer radios today. The original radio is included with the car. There are no front speakers as they were in the doors and I didn’t want to cut holes in the new door skins. The antenna is electric and automatically comes up when the radio comes on. The air conditioner worked until my mechanic ran out of gas to recharge it two years ago. My understanding is it may need a different compressor to comply with today's laws on refrigerant. The underside of the car was undercoated in the 70’s and the doors and body panels coated on the insides. I’ve included a photo of the drivers side front quarter panel which has a small dent in it, the only one on the car. There are two small dents in my new side chrome shown in one photo. A car door got me in the parking lot on the rear wheel well on the driver's side. This is the only thing that needs to be repaired in the paint. I am to the point where the car is too nice to trust to a parking lot. I almost hit a deer this spring. I've had to drain the gas out of the tank twice in the last nine years as I was afraid it sat too long. It's time for someone else to love and drive this car. It now has 61,000 miles on it, thousands of dollars of restoration, and much love. Please give it a good home.
