1997 Ford E-Series Van Quigley El Jefe 4x4 Camper Van 460

I am putting "el jefe" up for sale. This is a one of a kind 4x4 camper van built by the born free rv company. Look them up they make some of the highest quality made in the USA all fiberglass rv's ever built. This one is the "field and stream" model and as far as I have been able to tell its the only one ever made. This van is 20' and will fit in a normal parking spot anywhere you take it. This van was sent from ford to quigley for the 4x4 conversion and then to born free for the rv build. Every single receipt and paperwork from day one is included including the original sticker.
Ill break it into 2 parts: the ford van stuff and the rv stuff.
97 ford e-350 custom ordered with the unstoppable 460, arguably the most reliable best engine ford ever built. First thing I did was paint it to make it the beast it was meant to be. This paint job cost me a fortune and looks amazing it is not a maaco job. 140,000 miles and it runs, drives, shifts and stops perfectly. It is like a cadillac going down the road set the cruise and just sink in. It is loaded with the stuff at the time power windows and locks, cruise, ice cold air etc. I have added a kenwood bluetooth radio for tunes and hands free talking. I also have a garmin gps on the dash. Automatic with a brand new transmission and torque converter at 110,000. All 6 tires are brand new cooper at3's. Brand new 10,000 pound custom 10 leaf spring pack, new battery, new alternator, full recent tune up included belts and plugs and all the basics. This truck does not leak or burn a drop of anything. Recently replaced the brake lines and power steering lines. Brand new magnaflow muffler. Im sure it has a lot more new parts but that is all I can currently think of and I have receipts for literally everything ever done. Everything works as it should. The carpets and dash are in amazing condition. The abs light is on and has been since day one but this is true with pretty much every ford of this era and means nothing lol. The body is totally 100% rust free. The engine bay is super clean. The quigley 4x4 works perfect and I have never gotten stuck even in soft sand this thing is a beast.
The born free rv section (inside then out) is made w 3/4 solid oak they do not use cheap ass fake wood or particle board! It has plenty of drawer and cabinet space and a ton of storage along the roof line. I removed the interior seating and remodeled it. I put a stationary bed behind the captains chairs (that swivel) that is more comfortable than your bed at home. I added beautiful dark wood vinyl flooring all the way through it. I reused one of the captains chairs as a recliner in the living/ tv area. I added a 32" samsung tv with dvd player and antenna on the roof. I turned the small wardrobe into a pantry with custom slide out drawers, because I found that clothing storage was more than adequate all over the place. I removed the ancient 3 way fridge and added a state of the art engel fridge/freezer on a custom slide out. This fridge runs off dc and uses less energy than a light bulb and will freeze a beer in an hour. I removed the furnace because the overhead unit has heat. The bathroom has a thetson recirculating toilet which is the best way to have a toilet IMO. You are not dealing with a black tank at all, nor are you dealing w composting etc. Amazingly the van was not ordered w a water supply because he wanted to minimize weight. I added a sink in the kitchen with the pump and water holding jugs in one of the exterior storage compartments. The van does not have a shower i planned to build one but used a rinse kit instead. There are no water holding tanks under this van! Kitchen also has a very nice 2 burner stove and microwave. The roof ac blows so cold you will freeze to death and it also has heat. It has shore power and a freedom 10 inverter one of the best ever made, using 2 blue top top of the line house batteries. A solar charge controller is in the cabinet with the dvd player. They thought of everything as far as black out curtains and privacy w the front, doors and side windows. There is a brand new fantastic exhaust fan over the bed that is amazing with the windows cracked. IMO this van is perfect for a solo traveler or couple with the way I have it set up, but the world is your oyster.
Outside my favorite part has to be the built in gas grill for cooking, freaking genius (look at pics). I also added an ARB awning for shade on the roof rack and 100watt renology solar panel on top to keep the house batteries topped off. The roof is big and flat and you could go crazy with solar if you wanted to. There are 2 very large lockable storage units one on each side of the rv each with an interior light. The back door has a porch light and even the handle has a small night light. Back door also has a nice screen door.
