I have owned this car for 8 years. I purchased it from the president of the Austin Healey local club…. It was a tidy and well-kept car. The only shortcoming for me was the color…. Bermuda Blue. I kept it in that color for quite a while, thinking that it was the proper thing to do. But one day I saw a similar car in a dark blue and it just looked sharp to me so I went ahead and had the car painted a dark navy.
The car is mechanically sound and rust free. The 948cc motor is strong and the clutch and gearbox are excellent. Brakes are good and steering is spot on. Acknowledging that every one worries about rust....... I can provide many photos showing the rust free status, but of course a personal inspection would be the best. The interior is also very tidy. The paint is excellent ,but has a couple of minor flaws. There is a little bit of crazing on the hood, very hard to see, could not really catch it in a photo and also one spot where the paint is up a tad, and a spot behind driver side bumperette where the paint is thin, hidden by the bumperette. The hood undercoating looks proper and complements the engine compartment.
The badge for the hood is missing in the photos but is in my garage. I have a new rubber shift boot coming and it will be installed. I have the front bumper off the car just for looks and also have the rear bumperettes. The tires have a lot of tread and as you see in the photos, it’s running on its stock wheels.
The car has its side curtains, the proper top frame, and a new top that has not been installed.
