The Jeep Wagoneer was introduced to the market as the first American built sport utility vehicle (SUV) in 1963 and carried through an industry leading 28 years of production. Deemed a 4-wheel drive truck with car-like drivability, it literally wrote the book decades before buyers would find large trucks a suitable daily driver. It would be produced with limited changes year to year, but the most luxurious and well-appointed came about with the introduction of the Grand Wagoneer in 1984. It would be fully loaded with all available options and became the “gold standard” for luxury off-road vehicles.
