The Fiat Giardiniera was the longest running model of the 500 series, and has some very interesting specifics. The engine of the Giardiniera is laid under the boot floor, to create a flat loading surface. The fabric roof stretches all the way to the rear, with no obstacles. In 1966 production was transferred to Desio, where the Giardinieras were built by Fiat’s subsidiary company – Auto Bianchi. In total 327,000 Giardinieras were built, with the later models having the Auto Bianchi badges rather than Fiat. The Giardiniera estate is capable of carrying 4 adults and 25c of luggage at 60mph. and returning 46.8 mpg.
The bodywork is finished in the original ‘Blue Scuro’ colour, which extends to the inner wheel arches and also under body: and as you would expect, is arrow straight, and flawless.. The 499cc engine pulls very well and starts first time. The engine bay and boot are ultra clean and detailed. The 4-speed gear box is slick and quiet with no faults. The braking system is good, just as you would expect. All the suspension system is new, as are the wheels and tyres. The interior is all good and original,a great sort after colour combo.
