These Classic front-wheel drive motorhomes are getting collectible, and it kills me to have to sell this, but I am afraid I need to. Please read entire ad before emailing.
I have spent almost $10,000 on this since July of last year, and I am not excited to have to sell it.
I see a lot of these Vintage GMC 260 motorhomes for sale, and the majority of them, even selling for relatively high prices, have been restored, and painted modern colors with modern paint, have modern interiors or non-original fixtures, and while that is great for some people, I think one of the best features about these vans is the 1970s charm that the original vehicles possessed. With this in mind, I believe my home is especially valuable, as it still has its original paint, side graphics, seats, interior, and more. Regardless of what you could pay to make one 'nice' , you can never pay to make it 'original' again.
This all being said, this RV is still a bit of a project.
In the last year, I have bought new tires, new batteries, had a 'recently rebuilt' 455ci V8 engine installed in it (the previous engine failed on the freeway) , new 3-way fridge (that looks totally original) , new air bag for suspension, new brake hoses, and more.
When Home was being towed to my shop, the AAA driver bumped the front bumper into the front fender -- it is not a very obvious damage, and even I did not notice for two days, and after I did notice they did not want to cover their damage. SO -- The only body damage I an find on the entire truck, in over 40 years, is damage that occurred during my ownership ; cracks in the front behind the bumper on the passenger side. See photos.
Runs very well, and getting more like 6-8 in town and 10 + MPG on the highway
Interior looks great. Exterior looks great. Engine starts right up, and while not sounding perfect (has exhaust leak, from gasket) seems to run great. Air suspension works great. Dash AC works great. Roof AC works great with 'Shore Power' (When home is plugged into AC cord) , Brakes feel great. Modern CD player sounds great. Everything works. 6000KW Generator works.
Some small detail things are shabby, for example bathroom light fixture lenses are melted. Some small scratches in paint. Some cabinets open while you are driving. This RV is not perfect@! But, it is very original, and I doubt you will find another like it this nice, this original , anywhere near this price.
Thank you for reading all this, and thank you for the interest .
