Great running and driving Iconic Micro Car With the post-war motoring public in Italy clamoring for an affordable car to use around town, Fiat came to market with the 500 series introduced on July 4, 1957. Throughout this little car's run, improvements were being constantly engineered into the car. In production up to 1975, the 500s were extremely popular and today remain one of the icons of post-war Italy. Measuring just three inches under 10-feet from bumper to bumper, the 500 was able to carry two passengers comfortably, a bit of luggage, and when properly configured, an additional pair of children. In 1968, the 500L was introduced, the "L" representing the Lusso package, a slight upgrade in sound deadening materials, plus cosmetic improvements.
