Mileage: 46174 Miles
Engine: 980 cc
The bike has been ridden very little, especially in the past five years. Only 46,174 original miles! I intended to go through the bike top to bottom, but have had a change in plans. This is an opportunity to own a classic BMW Sports Touring bike. Upon starting, I found voltage meter indicating there appears to be an issue with the charging system. Perhaps the diode board needs an update replacement, as is so often the case, or I'm told it could be a stuck regulator or ground or other issue. The next owner will want to address that. And as with any BMW of this age, the bike deserves to be fully gone over with the recommended service schedule before extensive riding. Front brakes pads, new tires, a full fluid change and a windshield will be on the list of items to be taken care of and a general going over due to limited use. This bike has many miles of great riding left in her and even some collector value as a special edition. During an era when BMW proclaimed they were going to stop producing flat boxer twins, this commemorative model was released and this is said to be one of, if perhaps not even the last, of these “special editions". (little research might tell). It is said, that at the time, there was so much outrage in the BMW community the factory reversed its decision the next year and continued to produce flat twin models. But that still gives this one a bit of pedigree.
