For sale is an outstanding, correctly modified 240Z Vintage Racer. In 2008 the drivetrain was completely gone through, giving the engine, transmission and rear end a complete rebuild. Upgrades were added at the time such as new Goodyear Tires, Electric Fuel Pump/Regulator, Tokico adjustable Coilovers, Strut Tower Braces, urethane steering coupler and bushings among other things however the majority of aesthetics and parts themselves remain unchanged since the 80's. This 240Z is far from stock yet many original attributes have survived showing how well it's been cared for over the years and that the customization began with a very nice rust free/ low mile car. The dash is very rare in that it is unrestored and crack/blemish free. All glass is factory and in like new, scratch free condition. Ignition tumbler is original along with door and hatch locks which all fit the two number matched keys that still remain with the car. Console and interior panels are all factory and look as new. Seats were reupholstered with a velour center and carpet was custom made fitted atop Dynomat Sound/Heat Barrier. Original seatbelts still have the date coded safety tags sewn in. The transmission tunnel carpet is hiding very nice fade-free red cross hatched vinyl which has been kept in place just to add to the already cool and quiet cockpit but could be removed if you favor form over function. One might expect it be a loud, hot, uncomfortable, a typical sports car but when you're behind the wheel and fire the motor, it is impressively quiet in the cab the clutch is light and it feels refined, solid, and has effortless power with precise handling. The mild cam grind produces a solid idle and the Z can be very tame to drive if your foot can resist the throttle. Gas mileage is incredible for a race motor, aiding to that is the 5th gear which also makes highway cruising a treat.
This is really the ultimate first generation Z Car. Datsun was clever in using the same legendary inline 6-cylinder engine/transmission drivetrain platform from 1970-1983. The best of these parts were sourced and properly mated together to produce a powerful L-series power plant that produces roughly 300 pound feet of torque that really puts a smile on anyone's face.
